Shape the Future of Chemical Process Development

We are looking for a highly motivated Laboratory Technician to join our Process Development team. In this hands-on role, you will play a critical part in advancing innovative chemical processes and supporting the supply of drug substances through high-quality experimental work, data generation, and collaboration with multidisciplinary project teams.

You will contribute directly to process development, scale-up activities, manufacturing support, and the implementation of cutting-edge technologies in a dynamic and scientifically driven environment.

As a Laboratory Technician, you will:

  • Execute laboratory experiments that directly influence chemical process development and manufacturing strategies.
  • Generate, analyze, and communicate experimental data to support project teams and manufacturing sites.
  • Contribute to process optimization, troubleshooting, and scale-up activities.
  • Support innovative technology platforms such as Biocatalysis, Flow Chemistry, Process Analytical Technology (PAT), Surfactant-Based Chemistry, and Sustainable Process Development.
  • Participate in the manufacture of small-scale non-GMP and GMP batches for innovative modalities, including ADCs and other advanced therapeutic platforms, as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Laboratory & Process Development

  • Perform chemical synthesis experiments safely, efficiently, and right-first-time in alignment with project objectives and timelines.
  • Support process development activities through experimental execution, observation, and data collection.
  • Collaborate closely with Process Chemists to design experiments, evaluate results, and propose next steps.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and compliant electronic laboratory records (eLN) and documentation according to Good Documentation Practices.

Manufacturing & Scale-Up Support

  • Support pilot-scale and manufacturing campaigns through process familiarization, troubleshooting, yield optimization, and cycle-time prediction.
  • Assist internal manufacturing teams and external partners with scale-up activities and process transfers.
  • Participate in the production of small-scale GMP and non-GMP batches when required.

Safety, Compliance & Laboratory Operations

  • Ensure full compliance with HSE, GxP, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain assigned laboratory equipment, analytical instruments, and work areas in an operational, safe, and compliant state.
  • Manage laboratory inventories and contribute to the sustainability and usability of laboratory infrastructure.
  • Proactively identify, communicate, and address safety observations and operational risks.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work effectively with project leaders, analytical scientists, manufacturing teams, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, innovative, and solution-oriented team culture.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, technology platforms, and best-practice implementation.
  • Mentor junior colleagues, apprentices, interns, and trainees as experience grows.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completed apprenticeship as a Laboratory Technician (Laborant/in) or equivalent scientific technical qualification.
  • Practical experience in synthetic chemistry with a passion for laboratory work.
  • Strong hands-on experience with chemical synthesis and process development activities.
  • Experience supporting or participating in the scale-up of chemical reactions and processes.
  • Excellent understanding of laboratory safety standards and HSE requirements.
