Major Accountabilities:

  • Act as main process and systems coordinator for major NPhS initiatives, i.e., proactively anticipate operational needs and analyze simplification opportunities which offer solutions with reduced complexity; ensure requirements are clearly defined, fully compliant, approved, communicated, and understood; collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop business cases, determine scope and objectives for assigned projects.
  • Partner with all NPhS Basel functions/departments and countries to understand operational process needs and solve issues to support an efficient and compliant flow of commercial operations; ensure continuous process and automation improvements with e.g., but not limited to the SAP based / driven sales execution and financial processes within NPhS.
  • Manage and lead projects to deliver sustainable solutions in time and within budget; ensures consistent communication across all stakeholders in Basel and countries on key projects, updates, and other needs.
  • Ensure implementation and full compliance of NPhS master data in close collaboration with other NPhS functions/departments. Monitor master data accuracy, data flow between systems as well as system interfaces; review the work of colleagues (mainly but not limited to Export Operations) to identify compliance issues and provide advice or training.
  • Lead the efforts to support NPhS Basel functions/departments to document and improve standard operating procedures (policies, procedures, guidelines) and training for compliance and monitoring; responsible for documenting finance processes to ensure assigned controls are established to oversight operations and to minimize risk.
  • Work closely with the Novartis FC&C team as well as any appointed external auditor company to prevent violations of internal policies and external standards and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Relevant degree (Economics, Business Administration, Finance)
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
  • Knowledge of other languages (e.g., French) advantageous
  • 10+ years of maturity in a multi-national Business, Commercial, IT and/or Finance role; work experience in a matrix organization and cross-functional teams
  • 5+ years of profound experience in Export business in the pharmaceutical industry; specifically, detailed know-how of commercial business in small and mid-size emerging markets, i.e., in a multi-cultural environment
  • Demonstrated IT literacy on SAP (mainly SD/MM, FI/CO would be a plus), Price Pro, TPES, NPhS Contract Management Tool, MS Office
  • Project management experience with adequate leadership skills
  • Exposure to Sales Operations, Revenue Recognition, Supply Chain Management, Product Lifecycle, Inventory Management
  • Deep understanding of all relevant internal / external regulations and good practices to compare operational practices to defined standards
  • Ability to handle urgent and complex (multi-functional) assignments and manage conflict of priorities
  • Interpersonal, communication, negotiation and problem-solving mindset
