The Data Science Intern is an integral member of the Process Innovation team at Novartis Development, contributing to the advancement of data-driven solutions that support global clinical trials and retrospective analyses. This role is designed to accelerate process innovation through the development and application of AI technologies, enhancing operational efficiency and supporting Novartis’ mission to reimagine medicine. The intern will join a dynamic, cross-functional community of data scientists and innovation managers, gaining hands-on experience while collaborating with experts across multiple domains. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply quantitative and computational skills in a collaborative environment, delivering real impact on projects that drive innovation in clinical development.
Major Accountabilities
Work independently as well as with interdisciplinary teams to design and prototype agentic and AI-driven solutions for clinical trials and retrospective analyses
Analyze and interpret multi-modal, complex datasets to derive actionable insights
Develop and evaluate models to automate data integration and harmonization and hence accelerate cross-trial analyses
As part of larger product team, expand capability of simulation platforms for scenario planning, from data foundation to evaluation strategy, model implementation and testing, and stakeholder feedback.
Education:
MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a Related Field. PhD is a plus
Experience:
Proficient in analyzing biomedical data and a strong interest in expanding
Advanced coding skills in R and Python
Experience with ML/DL, large language models (LLMs), agentic workflows, modern data models
Experience working with cloud computing environments such as AWS is highly desirable
Excellent analytical, communication, presentation and organizational skills
Passion for exploratory research, fast prototyping and boundless curiosity
Location: East Hanover, NJ (Remote)
Pay Rate: $37- $44/hr based on experience and qualifications (W2 Only)
Contract: 12-month
