Summer External Student Worker - Specialist for technical development in Cell Therapy within TRD, Bx& CGT
This is an exciting opportunity within our Technical Development group that will require collaboration with various experts in the development organization. The selected candidate will support and contribute to interdisciplinary technical development work in Cell Therapy within TRD, Bx& CGT Organization. The selected candidate will gain hands-on experience and expand their knowledge in process development through study design and execution, as well as data analysis and reporting.
The Summer External Student will work closely with the Process Development Project Lead and will support and gain insights into cell therapy process development. The successful candidate will support the work contributing to a better understanding of the cell therapy manufacturing process. The ideal candidate should be a highly motivated team player.
Responsibilities
• Build a study design, prepare protocol, execute experiments, data analysis, technical report writing and presentation.
• Present overview and findings of studies at end of summer.
• Collaborate with Cell Process team and Analytical Development team.
• Present ideas, proposals, and data analysis and conclusions clearly and concisely.
• Learn and apply good laboratory practices and aseptic technique, data analysis and accurately document results in an electronic lab notebook.
• Learn key process steps applied in Cell Therapy manufacturing (e.g. cell isolation, genetic engineering) and analytical methods required for characterization of gene-modified cells using state-of-the-art technologies.
• Track project progress according to defined timelines, identify and communicate roadblocks/risks and issues.
• Adherence to Novartis standards, in particular, quality, ethical, health, safety, and environment (HSE), and information security (ISEC) standards.
Minimum Requirements
• Candidates must be currently enrolled in a US accredited degree-granting college or university pursuing a graduate degree.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a fast-paced and diverse team.
• Ability to navigate through complexity and ambiguity and demonstrate ability to grasp technical concepts and apply them in a development environment.
• Good understanding and practical experience in fundamentals cell biology techniques.
• Prior laboratory research experience is preferred.
• Must possess good organizational skills, time management and planning ability, ability to multi-task, self-motivation, and attention to detail.
• Strong communication, collaboration, presentation, and scientific/technical writing skills.
• Demonstrated ability to quickly acquire new concepts, technical skills, and knowledge.
Location: East Hanover, NJ (100% onsite)
Pay Rate: $34/hr based on education level
Contract: 06/09/2025 - End date will be 8/22/2025
