Senior Accountant R2R
The Senior Accountant R2R, P&O (People & Organization) Accounting is a leadership position responsible for accounting and reporting activities for P&O processes including Pension, Share Based Compensation, Restructuring, Payroll and other Employee Benefit (EB) activities.
The role requires strong working relationships with the FRA US teams, Group Reporting , third party vendors and P&O Function.

Major Accountabilities (Describe the 5-7 main results of the role to be achieved )
• Interact proactively with related functional areas to ensure accurate and complete financial reporting is accomplished.
• Perform Balance Sheet Reconciliations & Analysis for various high risk, low risk general ledger accounts. Ensure accounts are fully reconciled with no aging items.
• Contribute to month-end financial closing and reporting process for P&O accounting
• Ensure all key topics are raised proactively and aligned with stakeholders to minimize sur-prises
• Prepare manual journal entries.
• Drive automation and simplification across accounting tasks.
• Ensure all processes performed comply with Novartis standards and policies (i.e. global processes, Novartis Accounting Manual, Novartis Financial Controls Manual, Management Authorization Levels, etc.).
• Maintain an appropriate standard of technical competence
• Demonstrated ability to improve routine and repetitive tasks to improve process speed and or accuracy
• Ability to take or learn new tasks to support a fully cross trained team
• Proficiency in Excel and preferably Alteryx
• Ability to develop leadership skills to reach next level in the organization in the medium term

This role will work closely with broader Accounting and Reporting team to ensure accurate month end reporting, controls compliance, coordination of close process and preparation of materials for review of financials with management.

Education 
University level degree in Accounting and/or Finance / MBA
Preferred Certified Public Accountant (CPA), CMA, or Chartered Accountant

Languages:
English required

Experience:
7+ years of Financial experience required, preferably in Big 4 public accounting, and/or the healthcare industry/employee benefits accounting
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in accounting & reporting focused roles
- Good people skills, leadership exposure
- Strong communications skills
- Solid depth SAP knowledge preferred
-Strong analytics and process skills
-Alteryx knowledge desirable

Location: Hybrid East Hanover, NJ site
Pay Rate: $70 - $94/hour
Contract: 6 months
